Blended Families

If you are re-married with children from a prior marriage and your spouse is too, you are what we call a blended family. Although blended families are very common these days, they present enormous estate planning challenges. In these situations we discuss whether a marital trust makes sense, how to allocate life insurance proceeds, how to name retirement plan beneficiaries that takes care of both spouse and children and takes into account the new SECURE Act Law, and a host of other issues. If you have a prenuptial agreement, those provisions need to be considered in your estate plan as well.

If this describes your family, please contact us to get the discussion started.
